Summertime Snacks!
They’re so easy to make, and they’re delicious and healthy.
It’s fun – and you know there are no nasty artificial or ultra processed ingredients.
Our Patch and Filou love them!

Why not give it a try?

‘Clean Ice Cream’
Starting with cold ingredients, use a blender or a stick blender to whip up some cottage cheese, goat’s yoghurt or coconut milk (put the tin in the fridge for a couple of hours first). You could just use a hand whisk for the yoghurt and cottage cheese, too.
You can keep it as simple as this.
Or have fun and get creative with tasty add ins and toppings:
For dogs:
Blueberries, raspberries, chopped up strawberries (ideally organic), melon or cucumber
Fresh herbs and spices
Chopped nuts and seeds
A little honey if you like (for dogs over 1 year old)
For cats and dogs:
Chopped up pieces of chicken or other meat
Dehydrated chicken sprinkles
Crumbled dried sprats
Here are some ideas:
Whipped Cottage cheese
Mashed Blueberries
Pinch of cinnamon
Chopped hazelnuts
Whipped Goat’s yoghurt
Mashed Raspberries
Chopped Mint leaves
Pinch of shredded coconut
Whipped Coconut milk
Chopped up Melon or Mango (or both!)
Chopped almond pieces
Shredded Mint and Basil leaves
Whipped Cottage cheese
Chopped cucumber
Shredded coriander leaves
Tiny amount of freshly grated ginger (if you want to be adventurous)
Whipped Goat’s Yoghurt
Chopped up pieces of meat or fish
Crumbled dried sprats
Tiny pinch of cumin
Serve chilled, in their bowl or on a saucer, or
Freeze in ice cube trays or stuff a kong and freeze – serve frozen

Mix and match as you like and according to what you have to hand, and of course what they prefer.
You could make a little buffet with different versions and see which is their favourite.
The possibilities are endless!
I’d happily eat all of the above (maybe with a little added honey, or salt and pepper for the cucumber version, and minus the dried sprats!).
It’s simple, fresh, clean, no nasty additives, and instead plenty of taste and lots of healthy nutrition.
Will you give it a try?
Obviously, be sensible. These are snacks, not main meals, so go easy. If your pet has dietary sensitivities or special requirements, only use ingredients you know they can tolerate.
Milk products contain lactose, which some pets can’t tolerate well.
